Missouri House Recognizes STLCC’s 50th Anniversary
In recognition of St. Louis Community College’s 50th anniversary, Mo. Rep. Tim Jones (R-District 89), second from right, presents a resolution from the Missouri House of Representatives to STLCC officials at a recent Board of Trustees meeting at the Wildwood campus.
Also pictured with Jones are, from left, Ann Brand, the college’s legislative liaison; Craig Larson, vice chair of the board; and Myrtle E.B. Dorsey, STLCC chancellor. The state’s first junior college district, STLCC has served more than 1.2 million students. More students transfer to Missouri’s four-year colleges and university from STLCC than another other college in the state. STLCC has an annual impact of $2.5 billion on the St. Louis region.
Established in 1962, St. Louis Community College is the largest community college district in Missouri and one of the largest in the United States. STLCC has four campuses – Florissant Valley, Forest Park, Meramec and Wildwood – and annually serves nearly 80,000 students through credit courses, continuing education and workforce development programs.
