Woman Disturbed by Anti Obama Bumper Sticker Left On Her Car

Local photograher Yana Hotter got a little more than she bargained for when she went shopping at the Dierbergs in the West Oak Shopping Center Monday. After a half hour or so inside, the woman who recently put a magnet in support of President Obama's re-election on her car, said she returned to her car after shopping and found something else: a bumper sticker that reads: "I 'heart' Comrade Obama."

Republicans have mocked Obama administration health care reform as "socialized medicine." To Hotter, an immigrant from Ukraine who lived under communist rule, it was no laughing matter. In an interview Tuesday afternoon, Hotter called it childish, disturbing, and was also concerned about what else could happen.

"Someone came to my private property and violated it," she said. "It's really disturbing and it's really scary, because if they feel that they can do that to a car, an inanimate object, what is next?" 

She's trying to keep things in perspective, realizing that it isn't as though a much more serious crime was committed. Still, she seemed concerned about what was lost in the incident.

"I want to feel safe, and I don’t feel safe in Creve Coeur. And that’s ridiculous. I’m not in East St. Louis, I’m in Creve Coeur for godsakes, it’s not…it shouldn’t be a place where you’re afraid."

Hotter has been in contact with Creve Coeur Police. She also said she checked the Dierbergs parking lot and saw no other cars with the same sticker.
