Athlete of the Week: Vote for This Week's Top Football Star

Vote for your favorite football player in this week's Athlete of the Week poll. Be sure to vote by 11:59 p.m. on Thursday.

The high school football-season is in full-tilt, which means area athletes are tearing up the grid iron and making highlight reel plays.

We want to know which athlete fared the best over the weekend.

We're taking athletes from Maryland Heights PatchCreve Coeur PatchChesterfield PatchTown and Country-Manchester Patch and Ballwin-Ellisville Patch and finding out which ones are the best, according to the fans.

Vote in the poll below: Who was the central St. Louis County player of the week for the first week of the 2012 football season?

Here are the nominees:

Thomas Raybuck, St Louis Priory: Raybuck is nominated for the second straight week after he found the endzone on three touchdown rushes in Priory's 54-14 win over Lutheran South. Raybuck scored on runs of 14-, 41- and 48-yards. Overall, he rushed for 170 yards o 14 carries. Last week, Raybuck scored five times on 35-, 16-, 53-, 65- and 54-yard runs en route to a 280 rushing yard performance.

Bobby Mudd, Parkway South High School: Mudd's took a nifty interception back for a 57-yard touchdown in the first quarter and the Parkway South football team didn't look back from there as they swiftly disposed of Mehlville in a 27-0 route. Mudd also added a tackling assist in the game.

Parkway Central High School Defense: The Parkway Central defense has been rock solid all season. Nothing changed in Central's 23-0 shutout of Parkway North. The D limited North to just two third down conversions, 138 total yards and forced a fumble. This season, Central's defense has allowed just 11 points per game on average, with Friday's shutout being the first blank slate of the year.

Matt Donahoe, Chaminade: Chaminade's 42-3 loss to CBC wasn't pretty. The one bright spot? A 32-yard field goal from Donahoe. The score was the only points Chaminade put on the board. It was Donahoe's first field goal of the season.

Remember: It's all for fun. This is simply a fan's choice award.

Want to write in your own candidate? Go ahead! But be sure to explain your pick in the comments and be sure to vote by 11:59 p.m. on Thursday.
