Creve Coeur Weighs In On The Death Of Osama Bin Laden

Patch readers are invited to share their thoughts.

It is likely the topic of discussion wherever you go today, at the office, at school, or at the deli. Where were you when you first heard the news? What were you doing? What went through your mind when President Obama announced to the nation that Osama Bin Laden was dead?

We'd like to hear your stories, how you and family, your co-workers and classmates are talking about it. Does it feel at all odd to be celebrating someone's death? What do you think this should mean about our security moving forward, wars abroad?

Westminster Christian Academy Middle School Principal Steve Hall released the following statement to Patch:

"We recognize that our students will have a range of responses to the news of Osama bin Laden’s death. It’s important to us to offer our students an appropriate framework for considering such an impactful event. Our students should know that it is right and good to celebrate justice. Yet, it is equally wise to check oneself carefully before celebrating death. There is a marked difference between justice and vengeance. One is a responsibility bestowed upon man by God; the other is God’s alone. Let us give thanks to God for his justice and pray for grace and restraint from celebrating death with a vengeful spirit.

Our prayers will continue to be with those who lost loved ones on 9/11 and those who have lost loved ones in the ensuing conflict from that tragic day. We will also continue to uphold our military men and women who faithfully and courageously defend our lives and land."

We'll continue to share reactions as we receive them.
