St. Louis Arc Flash Mob Hits Westport

A mass of people from the St. Louis Arc danced Wednesday, hoping to "spread the word to end the word."

Dozens of people danced to Aretha Franklin's "Respect" at on March 7. The dancers were from Creve Coeur's , a press release indicated, and organizers held the flash mob in honor of the “Spread the Word to End the Word” campaign.

The campaign's goal is to remind people how "retarded" can be a hurtful word, the release indicated.

Organizers at the event handed out cards explaining that "the word 'retard(ed)' hurts millions of people with intellectual disabilities, their families and friends. Take the pledge and help promote the new R-word: Respect."
