Planning Panel Talks East Olive Property Monday
Complete Video is moving down the street to make way for the Goddard School.
The city of Creve Coeur's Planning and Zoning Commission Monday night will consider a minor site development plan for what will be the new home for Complete Video & Music at 11100 Olive Boulevard.
The business, which specializes in audio/visual needs for weddings and special events, has been in Creve Coeur since 1984, first as a home-based operation and later in the plaza near Fountain Park before settling in at 11224 Olive Boulevard.
Owner Dan Sims is moving just a bit further east on Olive to the former Hi-Fi-Fo-Fum property at Mary Meadows Lane. Work is already underway to bring the building up to existing code. Sims' site development plan calls for exterior changes, landscaping and a parking lot fence.
Simms says city restrictions requiring properties on Olive Boulevard east of Interstate 270 to retain a residential look have hurt the overall curb appeal between Mosley Road and the Monsanto campus near Lindbergh Boulevard. Several properties along that stretch are either vacant or up for sale and in recent years, individual properties have come before city officials for rezoning, the most notable a Goddard School for early childhood development which will occupy Simms' exisiting space at Mosley and Olive.
Sims tells Patch the new location will offer better visibility for retail than the current outlet, which has five full-time employees and 50 part-time. A business that started with a single sound system can now do 40 weddings a night.
The site development plan does not require city council approval. Sims says he'll be ready to move into the new location in March, in time for the busy spring wedding season.
Monday's Planning and Zoning meeting starts at 7 p.m. at the Creve Coeur Government Center.
