Pool Safety Lift Donated to Rainbow Village

Only one of three Waverly Glen lifts in the St. Louis Community

This information was provided by Cassidy Cleveland of Lents Public Relations of Brentwood.

Thanks to a donation by Prism Medical of Maryland Heights, Rainbow Village has the only indoor therapeutic pool with a state-of-the-art Waverly Glen lift. Prism Medical is a provider of durable medical equipment and related services to people with mobility challenges. Thanks to this donation, clients will now be able to go directly from their wheelchair to the pool.

The gift was celebrated in ceremonies earlier this week.

The Waverly Glen lift uses a mesh sling to lift clients from their wheelchair and transport them directly into the water. The lift is complete with an emergency stop, power emergency lowering, manual emergency raising and lowering and many other built-in features. Thanks to the generosity of Prism Medical, clients of all abilities will now have better access to Rainbow Village’s therapeutic pool.

“It is a very easy decision to contribute to Rainbow Village,” said Prism Medical’s Chief Operating Officer Charley Wallace. “What they do for our community is noble and generous in all respects. We are a company that has products and services that can help their clients and we look forward to supporting them in the future.”

Prism Medical is a local company with a global reach. They manufacture lifts right here in St. Louis and send them all over the world.

“We are very grateful for the generous donation from Prism Medical,” said Lydia Rasis, director of operations for Rainbow Village. “The new lift will benefit individuals who use the Rainbow Village pool for physical therapy. We see this as a great opportunity for organizations that serve individuals with disabilities. These organizations will enjoy easy access and warm water therapeutic features at our facility.”

Rainbow Village, headquartered just outside Creve Coeur in unincorporated St. Louis County, is the only non-profit in the St. Louis metropolitan area that focuses solely on providing long-term, affordable and quality neighborhood homes for people with developmental disabilities. Over 250 men and women live in Rainbow Village’s 55 homes. By maintaining the homes to the highest standards and constantly monitoring them to assess residents’ needs, Rainbow Village is able to improve the quality of life for many area individuals with developmental disabilities.
