Seven years ago today I sat in my living room, house full of evacuees, waiting for  Hurricane Katrina to pass. Today, I sit in my office at Isle of Capri Casinos, Inc. corporate headquarters, watching from afar as Hurricane Isaac dumps rain and wind upon the Gulf Coast from Louisiana to Alabama.

As senior director of corporate communication, my job role remains constant. Manage communications, monitor conditions and make statements as needed.  So far, there is high water, rain, wind and as expected, a boat is needed to travel along Highway 90 in Biloxi. Thankfully, at this point, everyone is safe.

We have been in Creve Coeur for six years now after moving our corporate office inland. Hurricanes no longer force the closure of our corporate headquarters. But, wind, rain, and tornadoes continue to impact our business in all six states where we operate.

Emergency preparedness is stressed at all fifteen of our casino properties. Communication plans are up-to-date and we understand the importance of being ready to handle whatever weather conditions come our way.
