Investing predictions are the rage among analysts in the know and those who just want attention.
Sheldon J. Harber, CFP®, President of Asset Strategies, Inc. has seen many stock market predictions and sets the record straight about what you should do in regards to investing.
Q: Tell us what you think about Wall Street, the Dow, the NASDAQ, everything. Make your predictions for us right now.
Sheldon: Well, I’m glad you asked me that question, because I once saw Warren Buffett, who’s considered the smartest investor in the world was asked that same question. And his response was, “Why are you asking me? How should I know?”
Investing is not about making predictions. This is something I think the individual investor should be very careful about. It’s very easy to make a prediction but that doesn’t play a big role in what we do, helping our clients.
Q: What’s the best investing decision someone can make right now if they’re 35 years old?
Sheldon: The best decision they can make is to get started. That time is so important. I’ve watched over the years people who waited too long to invest and I’ve watched people who started at the young age. All it boils down to is your money doesn’t have to work as hard if you start early.
