Reid: Why I Am a Black Baseball Fan

It seems like an annual event. Either a wire service, website or daily newspaper entertains the question of why there are fewer black baseball players and baseball fans. The Post-Dispatch took its turn last week.

I penned several columns examining this question while at the St. Louis American, a weekly African-American newspaper. The idea here is not to argue about the hows and whys or to place blame.

I’m presenting some factual evidence of what I watched growing up. This led – in part – to my love of baseball.
