Feature Film Inspired By Creve Coeur Moves Forward

The movie's slogan? "Time to get your heart on"

Patch has an update on a Creve Coeur native's hopes of bringing a coming of age story inspired by her own upbringing to the silver screen.

Stephanie Sanditz, a John Burroughs graduate, is the creator of Creve Coeur, MO, a “dark comedy/dramedy,” which tells the story of a 16-year-old young woman looking for romance while contending with the challenges of high school and her relationship with her dysfunctional family.

Sanditz has created a Creve Coeur Patch blog about her project, which now has a director. She is Kimberly McCullough, the actress behind Robin Scorprio, of General Hospital fame. There's also a high profile actor attached to the script, Zach Knighton, most recently from the ABC show Happy Endings.

McCullough talked to WeLoveSoaps.com about the project, and told the website, "It's a really beautiful script which is a cross between American Beauty and Juno. You have this family who is trying to look good to the rest of the community but has issues that they are not being dealt with, as well as the main character Alex, who is this quirky character who sees the world in an unique kind of way, and her journey to find beauty and romance."

Sanditz had previously told Patch that there was a desire to shoot the film here, but without state or local tax credits, there are still no plans to do so. The movie is using an online fundraising portal, hoping to raise $100,000 over the next month.
