Borders Closes Up Shop In Creve Coeur

In this case, everything from books to shelves, must go.

Less than two months after announcing the the company's location was open for the final day Monday.

There was a busy stream of activity inside the business and in the parking lot as shoppers came in for one last book, or to pick up fixtures like the shelving they where the books were displayed.

Annie Rodriguez, of St. Louis, said Monday's trip to the store was the fourth or fifth she'd made since the liquidation announcement. She said she bought 50 on Monday alone, with a focus on novels and spanish books.

A realtor working with the property owner, Mid-County Real Estate LLC says retail and medical interests have inquired about the anchor space Borders leaves behind at Olive Boulevard and New Ballas Rd. The key now, the realtor said, is finding a long-term tenant.
