Creve Coeur Bank To Change Hands

Clayton-based Enterprise Bank & Trust announced plans to purchase BankLiberty on Monday.

There's something of a running joke among Creve Coeur residents about the number of or need for more banks. A proposal submitted to the city potentially calls for a new one on the western edge of the city along Olive Boulevard, and an unofficial site plan for a Chick-Fill-A restaurant on the eastern edge of Olive also includes a bank on the developed property.

Now, Clayton-based Enterprise Bank & Trust has decided to join the fray. On Monday, the company announced plans to purchase deposits and other assets from , located at 11401 Olive Blvd. No purchase price was disclosed, but Jerry Mueller, an Enterprise Senior Vice-President, told Patch BankLiberty holds $40 million in deposits at the Creve Coeur location.

Champion Bank operated at the property until April 2010 when it was closed by government banking regulators and reopened as a BankLiberty branch. The agreement with Enterprise Bank & rust agreement does not include BankLiberty loans.

Mueller said Creve Coeur's mix of residential and business clients, plus access to Maryland Heights made the move attractive. The branch, which would be Enterprise's fifth in the St. Louis area, could open in October pending regulatory approval.
