Creve Coeur Native Still Has Hopes Of Bringing Hollywood To Her Hometown

Stephanie Sanditz saddened by move to close Missouri Film Office as part of budget cuts.

You can count Creve Coeur native Stephanie Sanditz among those who were disappointed to learn of Missouri Governor Jay Nixon's decision to close the Missouri Film Office as part budget cuts earlier this year.

The move, which according to Missouri Watchdog reporter Brian Hook eliminates the office but moves the duties (and the tax credit programs used to lure production) into the Missouri Department of Economic Development, effective starting July 1.

She has a screenplay written for a dark coming of age high school comedy entitled Creve Coeur, MO. In an email last week, Sanditz said she was unsure how the budget cut would impact what she hoped might ultimately be a production shot in Creve Coeur. She said she is still searching for financial support for the project but wrote she is "staying positive, and will not stop until it is made."

Whie she searches for funds, she said the screenplay continues to pick up backers, including Director Wayne Wang (Joy Luck Club, Maid In Manhattan), who Sanditz said "flipped" over the script and "more than anyone wants to shoot IN Creve Coeur."

In the meantime, the former John Burroughs theater standout is staying busy on a number of projects, including a TV pilot based on Missouri riverboats, and a number of independent films .
