Creve Coeur Shopping Center Getting Facelift

The Willowbrook Shopping Center has remained the same since 1970.

Trustees of Creve Coeur's Willowbrook Shopping Center have won approval for the right to make improvements there for the first time in more than 40 years.

Creve Coeur's Planning and Zoning Commission gave the OK for the proposal for the shopping center, located on Old Olive Street Road, Monday night.

According to documents prepared for the meeting, "façade improvements include creating a taller canopy structure with a wider pedestrian walkway underneath with a signage band above the roofline along the front façade. The east and west elevations indicate that the lower brick will remain. The existing brick along the back will be left as is, with no changes."

The changes will improve the landscaping at the site and remove some parking. The property, owned by the Geraldine Deutsch Trust, was built in 1967 and was expanded in 1970.

A message left for one of the trustees asking about a timeline for the improvements and potential for new tenants, has not been returned.
