Culpeppers Confirms Creve Coeur Closing Date

A BBQ restaurant will open in the Westgate shopping center space later this year.

Less than a week after Patch reported on plans for a restaurant tenant that will replace Culpeppers in the Westgate Shopping Plaza in Creve Coeur, Culpeppers has announced that it will close here on Sunday, August 18. The Riverfront Times reports that employees are being given the chance to work at other Culpeppers locations in St. Louis.

The restaurant's Creve Coeur lease runs until September 1.

Wild Smoke, a BBQ concept planned by the owners of EdgeWild Restaurant & Winery in Chesterfield could open before the end of the year.

The new restaurant will need to go before Creve Coeur Planning and Zoning commission members later this month.

Culpeppers fans were sharing their thoughts about the news on Creve Coeur Patch's Facebook page.

"REAL sorry to see it close!!! I LOVE their wings and they're right down the street. Just hope the new restaurant is good!," wrote Nancy Solomon Fine.

"The sunday chicken dinner was a big hit and the Wednesday steak night. A lot of older people in the area depending on that restaurant," Robyn Bradley Wallen said. "Another smoke house restaurant does not do it for me. I guess money talks,"
