New Bookstore Opens In Creve Coeur

City resident hopes to support local authors.

After months of online posts sharing her journey toward opening a bookstore in Creve Coeur, reality started to hit Robin Tidwell in recent days.

"Oh my god, we're really opening a bookstore," she recalled Saturday, a few minutes after she had officially done just that, at , 11052 Olive Blvd.

The small, independent shop will sell new and used titles, and customers can earn store credit by bringing in their own books.

Tidwell hopes to highlight local authors, and on Saturday, one of them was helping her. Tom Mee, Jr. a technical director on St. Louis Cardinals baseball telecasts on Fox Sports Midwest signed copies of his 2009 book, Cutting the Game: Inside Television Baseball from the Director's Chair.

Tidwell said Mee heard about the store online, and asked if he could be part of the opening, and a few weeks ago, asked if a friend could come along. That friend turned out to be broadcaster Al Hrabosky, who handed out autographed bobblehead dolls with the purchase of Mee's book.

Mee and Hrabosky are fresh off being part of what many people are calling the best night of televised baseball drama in the sport's history, as the Cardinals defeated Houston and then waited to see Philadelphia edge out Atlanta, making St. Louis the National League Wild Card. Mee blogged about that night_ and on Saturday called it a hair on the back of your head kind of experience as the drama unfolded and the team's celebration ensued.

It sounds like a tense thriller worthy of a book someday.
