Presbyterian Church Eyes Olive Blvd Worship Space

The Creve Coeur Planning and Zoning Commission will hear the church request at a meeting Monday night.

Crossroads Presbyterian Fellowship, currently based in Maplewood with services also provided at the Olivette Community Center, will ask the Creve Coeur Planning and Zoning Commission for a conditional use permit on Monday night for space on Olive Blvd.

The property is located at 1118 Olive near Mary Meadows Lane. Plans call for a 6,800 square foot space, including a worship area that could fit 192 people.

Daniel Song, Crossroads' Associate Pastor, said the church has been looking for permanent space in addition to the Maplewood location and has been operating out of the Olivette Community Center since 2010. He described this prospective site, with 40,000 cars passing by daily on Olive as "a perfect place to call home," and looked at this spot as a "great place to plant down roots into this community."

Song said the congregation is about 100 strong, with 10 families from Creve Coeur, and a few in Olivette, so finding a home in this corridor was important. If all goes as planned with city approvals, services could open at the new site as early as next Easter.
