President of SSM Health Care's St. Louis Arm to Retire

Creve Coeur-based organization aims for for a new leader by year's end.

President Jim Sanger of SSM Health Care-St. Louis is expected to retire at the end of this year, Creve Coeur-based SSM Health Care announced Tuesday in a news release.

In St. Louis, the system operates entities such as in Richmond Heights, SSM St. Joseph health centers in St. Charles and Wentzville, SSM St. Clare Health Center in Fenton and SSM St. Joseph Hospital West in Lake Saint Louis.

Sanger, 67, has served as president and chief executive of the health system's operations in the St. Louis area since November 2007, the release states.

“Jim’s leadership as president and CEO of SSM-St. Louis led to all-time high scores in employee satisfaction, significant financial improvement, improved physician satisfaction and improved clinical results,” stated SSM Health Care President Bill Thompson in the release.

The system is expected to have a new president in place later this year.
