RockTenn Settles Suit Tied to Smurfit-Stone Deal

Some shareholders had brought class action suit to stop the merger.

RockTenn, the Georgia-based firm of Creve Coeur based in January and , has settled a class action lawsuit brought by Smurfit-Stone shareholders who objected to what the plaintiffs in February called the deal

As part of the settlement, the plaintiffs will conditionally be allowed to participate in a "quasi-appraisal" hearing in court, according to a statement released by the company Wednesday posted online by The Wall Street Journal.

At the time the sale was announced, RockTenn officials were clear that the merged operation would continue to be headquartered out of Georgia, but did not describe in specifics how operations in Creve Coeur would be impacted. A message seeking comment was left Thursday afternoon for company officials in Georgia.
