Soup Restaurant Gets Final City Approval

Ultimate Zoup could be open in an Olive Boulevard location in Creve Coeur by the end of 2013.

Ultimate Zoup, a soup restaurant looking to expand in the St. Louis region, received final approval from Creve Coeur's City Council this week to open in space neighboring ALDI at the intersection of New Ballas Road and Olive Boulevard.

The move came Monday with an emergency clause taking effect immediately instead of requiring a second vote. The restaurant's conditional use permit was delayed at the Planning and Zoning Commission level in June due to a lack of a meeting quorum.

The proposed 2,837 square-foot, 72 seat, limited-service restaurant could be open sometime between Thanksgiving and the end of 2013.

According to the restaurant's application, "Zoup! strives to offer authentic, hand-crafted soups that are as good – and as “feel-good” – as the homemade soups our mothers and grandmothers used to cook up." The menu also includes salads, sandwiches and bakery items.
