When Will They Tear Down The Old Reuther Building?

Plaza Motor Company is getting ready to start work to relocate a Jaguar and Land Rover dealership to the Olive Boulevard property in Creve Coeur.

Demolition crews could begin work to take down the former Reuther Automotive building on Olive Boulevard as soon as Monday, an executive with Plaza Motor Company told Patch Wednesday.

Plaza Motors gained city approval last year to move the luxury car dealer's Jaguar and Land Rover lines to a new facility across from CityPlace. Jerry Patterson told Patch that asbestos was removed from the site three weeks ago and that Reuther will still need to handle environmental soil tests on the site. Construction on the facility could begin in 2-3 weeks, he said.

In the meantime, crews from the Creve Coeur Fire Protection District have been on the property recently, but not for anything related to the project. Crews have been taking advantage of the building for rescue training, according to a district spokesman.

Patterson said nothing has changed in the plan approved by the city except for the size. The building will be 3,000 square feet smaller. As for when it will be open for business?

"I'd like to be in there before the end of the year," Patterson said.
