Brown Smith Wallace Establishes Faculty Scholar Position at University of Missouri-Columbia

Brown Smith Wallace has established a Faculty Scholar position at the University of Missouri (MU) School of Accountancy, one of the top accounting programs in the country.

Brown Smith Wallace has committed more than $90,000 over a five-year period for this position and is the only accounting firm headquartered in St. Louis to have a named faculty position on the MU campus.

The position was created to attract accounting educators with strong research, teaching and service potential to the MU School of Accountancy in the Trulaske College of Business.

Marty Doerr, CPA and member in charge of tax services at Brown Smith Wallace, said the named faculty scholar position benefits both MU and Brown Smith Wallace as they both work to help advance the accounting profession. Doerr has been instrumental in helping recruit MU students into accounting positions.

“We’ve always enjoyed a strong partnership with MU, from taking the time to meet with accountancy students, to inviting them to our offices where they can take part in our IMPACT Leadership Program,” he said. “The faculty scholar position further strengthens our relationship and demonstrates Brown Smith Wallace’s commitment to helping grow the next generation of leaders in our profession.”
