Food Trucks and Free Concerts

Food Truck Thursdays in Faust Park

St. Louis County Parks Department sponsors Food Truck Party in the Park at three different parks throughout the summer and continuing through October.  In addition to the food trucks, the three parks, Faust, Tilles, and Creve Coeur, provide a stage where some of St. Louis’ favorite bands perform. Tonight I experienced food trucks and a free concert in Faust Park with my daughter and grandchildren.

I find the whole concept of food trucks and free music an interesting phenomenon.  Being able to walk from vendor to vendor and choose my meal was enjoyable in and of itself, but being able to choose my food in such a setting made it possible to experience foods that I might not normally choose. To order one thing here and one thing there without having to commit to a $20 meal allowed me the option to try new things. And, to be able to order the tried and true, (macaroni and cheese for example), made it simple to order for the kids. Add to this the relaxed setting of Faust Park and the excellent music from the Soulard Blues Band, which began playing during my meal and continued for a while after. Food Truck Party in the Park is a great success in my book.

There are three more Food Truck Party in the Park dates scheduled for October, one in each of the three parks. Visit freeconcertsstl.com for info.
