A Phone Call From The Mayor On A Saturday Night

I received a phone call from Mayor Harold Dielmann and spoke briefly with him Saturday night. Dielmann, 82, was absent from last week's as well as for a medical situation no one wanted to discuss at the time.

He told me that he recently had "tremendous pains" which, as it turns out, was a ruptured appendix--"quite a mess," as he put it. He said he was back up and walking now, and that he expected to be out and around in a few days.

He told me he was actually calling me back to talk about Creve Coeur Days. As we've reported in this space, .

Mayor Dielmann said two locations are still under consideration, that the event "is still a possiblity," and that he would hate to see it go after 45 years.
