Artistic Bus Shelter Project Back At Square One

City leaders have been unable to make contact with the artist chosen for the project.

Creve Coeur's Planning and Zoning Commission voted last week to extend the time frame available for the city to build an artistic bus shelter on Olive Boulevard.

The city will now have until the end of 2015 to have the structure built in front of the CVS Pharmacy.

Creve Coeur will in all likelihood have to find a new artist to design and build it. Patch has previously reported that city officials have been unable to locate the artist who was selected in a design competition to get a contract signed for the project.

The Nov. 19 planning commission vote also extends the time period for the project to access funds from an escrow account.

Developers of the CVS and St. Luke's Urgent Care established that account to pay for the shelter in exchange for less green space on the site, called "bonus coverage" in city planning parlance.
