City Wants You To Join 'For The Love of Creve Coeur'

An event in June in Creve Coeur is intended to help better connect residents to the city.

Don't be surprised if you hear from one or several members of the Creve Coeur City Council in the coming days asking for your help. No, they don't want your money or support for a political campaign.

They want you to attend a session at the Creve Coeur Government Center June 1 featuring Peter Kageyama, author of For The Love Of Cities.

He's developed a program that his website says is designed to:

...explore how people connect with in their own community, how to improve and maximize that connection and lead more people towards being “in love” with their place and ultimately doing something for their city.

The workshop identifies key community assets including the emotionally engaged citizens that shape the city and develops strategies and tactics to engage these local development resources. We emphasize locally based solutions that do not require significant resources and can be quickly implemented.

Creve Coeur City Council members recently discussed how the city would recruit participants for the event, and Ward 3's Charlotte D'Alfonso suggested councilmembers not share lists of potential candidates so that a little good old fashioned peer-pressure might encourage people to attend.

Registration is required for the event. For more information, contact Theresa Bradshaw at (314) 442-2081 or tbradshaw@ci.creve-coeur.mo.us by May 24.
