Update: Crane Tips in Mercy Hospital Mishap; 2 Injured

A crew was working on the hospital's air conditioning unit.

A construction crane tipped over during a project at campus in Creve Coeur around noon today. A McCarthy Construction Company crane was in use as crews are in the process of updating the hospital's air conditioning system.

The crane tipped around noon as it was being repositioned.

A Mercy official on site earlier Thursday told Patch one person was injured. A spokeswoman told Patch late Thursday afternoon that two people suffered what were termed as minor injuries.

It happened near the Muckerman Road entrance to the hospital.

Creve Coeur Police were on the scene to re-route traffic. A Creve Coeur Fire department spokesperson said the district's crews would be back on scene later Thursday when another crane arrives to move the toppled unit.
