A daycare facility serving 150 children could be up and running in Creve Coeur by the fall of 2012 at the site of the former Rose Hill Masonic Temple.
The Creve Coeur Planning and Zoning Commission Monday gave approval for a request to rezone the property from “C” Single-Family Residential to “GC” General Commercial. The panel then approved a Site Development Plan to move forward with a planned Goddard School daycare facility.
The Goddard School operates certified daycare facilities for children up to the age of 5. There are 12 local Goddard School franchises in the St. Louis area.
Julie Sulze, director of the Goddard School in Manchester, would be the co-operator of the Creve Coeur site. She said the lack of daycare in Creve Coeur was a draw for the franchise. She anticipates the daycare's clients would come from a 5-10 mile radius but could be wider, given the city's location as a hub for regional employers.
The daycare must still refile landscape and site development plans with the city. The decision now gets forwarded to the Creve Coeur City Council.
