In an internal memo to employees released Friday Morning, Lynn Britton, President & CEO of Mercy Health Systems said:

I am writing today to announce that Marie Glancy has resigned her position as chief advocacy officer for Mercy. I appreciate Marie stepping up with this action, and in light of the incident at the Cardinals stadium on Monday evening, I agree that it is the right course of action.

It is my strong belief that we have a tremendous responsibility to the communities we serve. We must hold ourselves to the high standards that have characterized our ministry. It is my goal that Mercy will continue to be defined by principled leadership.

Marie has asked that I include her personal apology in this memo. It is attached below.

"I deeply regret the incident at the Cardinals game and my involvement in it. Much of my work in recent years has been to help tell Mercy’s story and to influence our ability to be a viable ministry in the community. That I would have been involved in shedding a negative light on Mercy is contrary to all I’ve worked for. I have chosen to leave my position with Mercy. It is my desire that Mercy – and I – have the opportunity to move forward and recover any damage from the incident." –Marie Glancy.

I am grateful for Marie’s contributions to Mercy and I know you will join me in wishing her every blessing in the future.

Lynn Britton, President & CEO.
