Parkway North Student Honored For Honeysuckle Efforts

Ryan Tierney's Eagle Scout project was dedicated to getting rid of the invasive plant.

The is well known, and this week, city council members recognized an Eagle Scout's efforts to get rid of the non-native invasive species.

Junior Ryan Tierney was presented with a certificate of recognition at Monday's Creve Coeur City Council meeting.

Tierney, 18, a member of Boy Scout Troop 492, organized a team of volunteers last fall to remove honeysuckle on the grounds of the where a demonstration area now sits near the entrance to the Community Center.

Tierney also created a honeysuckle educational brochure available for residents at the Government Center.
