Ronald McDonald House Welcomes New Addition

Seeger Toyota donation will help keep families mobile.

Andrew Sydney Turton and his family called the Ronald McDonald House on the campus of in Creve Coeur home from early February until April 18. He was in the area as part of the Belize Children's Program and was scheduled to fly home Monday. There's a good chance we know how he got to the airport.

Friday, donated a Toyota Sienna to the facility. Area Toyota dealers partnered in past years on a vehicle donation, but the lease on the vehicle had expired, leaving staffers to use their own cars or older vehicles to transport families around the area, or to get supplies from one place to another.

Ronald McDonald House charities officials underscored the impact of having mobility means for those staying at the facility, something many may take for granted.

"Many of them don't have cars, so just even to go to Walgreens to get drugs, or go to the grocery store to get groceries, it means a ton to them, " said Dan Harbaugh, President of Ronald McDonald House Charities of Metro St. Louis.

Seeger Toyota Owner Tom Seeger told Patch he became involved with RMHC through the charity's golf tournament years ago and the organization touched his heart. Seeger also presented a $5,000 check to the house, which was matched by Toyota's national donation program.
