The Week Ahead: Smoking Shelters, TDDs and The National Spotlight

We're in the middle of the hot dog days of summer, but there's plenty to keep Creve Coeur Patch busy in our community.

Monday, City Council meets at 7 p.m. Among the items up for discussion are a proposal to establish . The Council will get a report on costs associated with having in place for Council and Planning and Zoning Commission meetings. This week is a big one for a pair of athletes who brought national attention to their teams while they played in Creve Coeur. Sunday night, former pitcher Jacob Turner appeared in Major League Baseball's Futures Game Sunday in Phoenix, featuring the top minor league prospects. Turner, a former first round draft choice of the Detroit Tigers, is currently pitching for the team's AA affiliate in Erie, Pennsylvania.

On Tuesday, recent graduate will find out if he's been named Gatorade Male High School Athlete of the Year during a star-studded trip to Hollywood. He won Gatorade's basketball honors earlier this spring. A dinner announcing the winner is on tap for Tuesday--don't worry, Patch has it covered--and then Beal and the other finalists will get a chance to walk the red carpet at ESPN's ESPY Awards show on Wednesday.

This week, the boards of both of Creve Coeur's Transportation Development Districts meet with big questions facing both bodies. The Olive Blvd. TDD meets Tuesday as leaders try to determine how much money is left and which projects to finish. The Olive-Graeser TDD meets Friday,
