World Food Day: Danforth Center Plays Big Role

Thousands of people came to Creve Coeur to do their part in the fight against hunger.

Volunteers from across the St. Louis metropolitan area came to the on Friday and Saturday to help feed sub-Saharan Africa as part of World Food Day 2011 festivities.

The goal was to have 3,000 people converge on the Creve Coeur campus over a two day period to package half a million meals which by themselves can feeed six children at a cost of only .25 cents.

After volunteers were done preparing the meals, they were treated to exhibits around the center and tours of the facility.
