Take Charge!

Take Charge of your health!

A long time ago, a friend of mine gave me some good advice. He told me not to worry about things over which I had no control. I have never forgotten those words but sometimes it is difficult to put into practice. I am a worrier. Not only am I a worrier but I am a person who likes control. Unfortunately, we cannot control many things in life. We cannot control the weather, the economy, what quesions an interviewer may ask and so forth. So why worry about them?

Let's talk about the things in life we can control that may even save our lives. We can control what we put into our mouth and what we do with our body. In short, we can control our body mass index, waist circumference, exercise per week, cigarette and/or drug use, doctor visits, salt intake, alcohol consumption etc. I think you get the message. How many of us are control oriented and worriers but allow our health to get so far out of control? I am not saying it is easy to make changes. I am saying that these changes are within control and so worthwhile. Enlist help, join a support group if you need it. I once read an article that said you are the C.E.O. of your body. If you sit here today not liking the state you are in, then get rid of the management and bring in the new. It's never too late for change. You will be so happy you did.
