The Intersection of Plant Science and Baseball: A Digital Future

New technologies are revolutionizing our ability to digitize and understand the world around us. These tools can be used by baseball teams to improve a player’s performance or by scientists to improve the performance of crops. Cutting-edge technologies can tell us how much spin is on the ball as it leaves a pitchers hand, or how much a leaf has grown in the last day. Turning this information into actionable knowledge that helps a baseball team win more often, or that helps a breeder to improve crop performance more quickly is transforming both the future of science and the world of sports.

Please join Ivan Baxter, USDA-ARS Research Scientist, Assistant Member and Principal Investigator at the Danforth Plant Science Center and Chris Correa, Director, Baseball Development for the St. Louis Cardinals as they discuss the impact these new technologies will have across diverse industries.
