Creve Coeur Green Power Challenge Surpasses the Halfway Point of the Challenge Goal
With the help of several Creve Coeur businesses, including Koman Place/City Group, the Green Power Challenge has surpassed the 50% mark of its goal.
Creve Coeur is well on its way to becoming an EPA Green Power Community (GPC). By the time the kick-off event was held on April 25 at , several businesses had committed to help the City reach its GPC goal of offsetting 3 percent of all energy usage (business, government and residential) by using renewable energy sources including solar power or by purchasing Renewable Energy Credits (RECs) to support renewable sources of energy including Missouri wind farms.
With the help of Mercy Hospital, /CityPlace, and and others, the City has surpassed the halfway point (58 percent) of its goal of 1523 megawatt hours by April 2013.
- Mercy Hospital St. Louis committed to offset 5,964,000 kWh of its electricity per year with renewable energy, which is equivalent to taking 806 cars off the road per year.
- Koman Group/ City Place committed to offset 1,236,000 kWh of its electricity per year, which is equivalent to taking 166 cars off the road per year.
- The Donald Danforth Plant Center committed to offset 980,000 kWh of its electricity per year, which is equivalent to taking 133 cars off the road per year.
