Creve Coeur Recognizes Community Leaders Participating in Green Power Challenge

Businesses, schools, and non-profits are recognized for participating in Creve Coeur's Green Power Challenge.

The City of Creve Coeur, Microgrid Solar, and Ameren Missouri Pure Power had its Midway Celebration for the EPA Green Power Challenge on Thursday, November 1st in City Place’s beautiful atrium.  Thank you to Koman Group for donating the CityPlace One Atrium facility and for participating in the Green Power Challenge.  Also a special thanks to Extra Thyme catering who not only provided great food, but also recycled and composted the waste from the evening to make it a truly green event! Thank you also to Bria Robinson of Whitfield School for providing the musical entertainment.

Approximately 50 people from the community attended the event and had the opportunity to hear from businesses, schools, and non-profits who are implementing green programs and why they are participating in the Green Power Challenge. I really enjoyed meeting the leaders of our community and am energized by their commitment to sustainability.

Through the efforts of our residents, businesses, schools and non-profits, the Green Power Challenge is at 83% of its goal and the Creve Coeur community is contributing 15,072,000 kWh of energy per year from green power resources. This is equivalent to eliminating 10,393 tons or 22,912,605 pounds of CO2 from our atmosphere, which is equal to the CO2 produced by 2,038 gasoline powered cars in one year. Also the equivalent to the greenhouse gas emissions avoided by recycling 3,621 tons of trash instead of sending to a landfill. This is truly something to be proud of!
