Pattonville Mock Trial Team Places Third in State
PHS team defeats No. 1 seed MICDS during state championship competition
The Mock Trial team from Pattonville High School placed third in the state after competing in the state mock trial championships, held April 5 through 7. After advancing to state based on achievements at the district and regional competitions, the team was placed as the eighth seed in the "Elite Round" at the state level.
"On Saturday afternoon, the team shocked everyone with a March Madness-style upset of number one seed MICDS (Mary Institute and Country Day School), sending Pattonville to the final four against Clayton on Sunday morning," said James Frazier, a Pattonville speech and debate teacher who is the team's coach. "In a hard-fought trial, we lost to Clayton on a two to one ballot. We thus finished third in the state."
Members of Pattonville's Mock Trial team are: Cassie Chandler, Maysa Daoud, Brian Dufrenne, Anjali Fernandes, Zach Green, Denish Jaswal, Aaron Mansdoerfer, Jared Roberts, Jordyn Wilson and Yareli Urbina. Frazier was assisted in coaching the team by volunteer attorneys Tim Boyer and Mike Schwade, a 2002 Pattonville graduate.
