Local Jazz Legend Mae Wheeler Passes Away
St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports she died at her Creve Coeur home.
Mae Wheeler, known as "Lady Jazz" around St. Louis, died Wednesday at her Creve Coeur area home, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
Kevin C. Johnson wrote an article recalling his first editorial encounter with Wheeler. It also includes the first article he wrote on the late singer.

Update, June 17, 8:04 a.m.: While the Riverfront Times says Wheeler died in her Maryland Heights Home, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that funeral arrangements and plans for memorial concerts are still being made.
