A Year Of Creve Coeur Patch

Reflections on a year's worth of stories, people and events.

It is hard to believe that a year has passed since Creve Coeur Patch began operating as a source of news, community information and dialogue. I've been thinking about what to say in this space when the time came. In my former TV news background, we'd call it a POP spot (proof of performance), where you try to cram as many of your biggest, most memorable moments into thirty seconds of airtime for a commercial.

I've met too many people, been helped by countless others and otherwise impressed with the support we've seen by readers to do that justice, and fortunately, thanks to being an online outlet, I don't have to do it that way!

People, People, People

We've had the honor of learning about some fantastic people. Some, like who were taken far too soon. We profiled others for their ability to overcome obstacles and devastating injuries. I'm especially happy to report that Joe and Cecilia Detwiler are doing well. Cecilia even auditioned for a spot in "America's Got Talent," according to the family's Christmas message this year.

Contributors

And speaking of people, a hearty thanks goes out to all those who have dedicated time and effort to participating in this great adventure as reporters, columnists and photographers. The same must be said for anyone who has taken pictures of or blogged about their experiences, large and small.

You are all vital cogs to what makes Creve Coeur Patch work. Keep on contributing--we'll be rolling out some new ways to share photos in the very near future, by the way. Want to blog? We can help you get started.

Take advantage of all the free elements which are here to help you, and help the community. If you're a business owner, claim your listing. Post an announcement and a calendar item to help build awareness about your event.

And if you haven't done so already, follow us on Twitter and like us on Facebook. A great first year is in the books. I look forward to many more.
