Earlier this spring, created quite a little stir by playing a round of golf at the Creve Coeur Golf Course. He was in St. Louis for just three days for a one-night performance at the Pageant. In this short amount of time, he managed to play our golf course. We like to think that he heard great things about our golf course and had to see for himself. Or maybe his tour bus was driving by on Olive Boulevard and he saw our new sign at Olive and Craig!
Not to be outdone, the Creve Coeur Ice Arena also sees its fair share of interesting visitors including professional skaters and hockey players. But for someone famous you can see on a regular, almost daily basis at the ice arena, the honor goes to Igor Lisovsky. Igor along with partner Irina Vorobieva won the gold medal in pair skating at the World Championships at Innsbruck, Austria in 1981. He was also a singles skater winning gold in men’s singles in 1978 and 1979 at Haage, Holland. He narrowly missed out on participation at the Lake Placid Olympics in 1980. With a pedigree like that, Igor could easily have made his home in Colorado Springs where the skating hopefuls congregate to hone their skills. Instead he has chosen as his home base to coach the next generation of skaters. In fact he has chosen to live right here in Creve Coeur. This summer come by and cool off at the ice arena and pick up a few pointers from a world champion. And play a round of golf too!
A former council member once suggested that we should have the Creve Coeur Days Festival alternatively on the east and west sides of the city in order to share the fun. So it is that this year the Festival is at the grounds of on June 14-17. When De Smet found out that the Creve Coeur Days Festival for lack of a suitable venue they immediately offered use of their grounds. Thank you De Smet! And its not too late to sign up for the Creve Coeur Heart to Heart 5K, 10K and 1.5 Mile Run/Walk on June 16!
