Creve Coeur Police Officers Honored

Staff recognized for solving robbery cases and saving one woman's life.

Creve Coeur Police recently honored a number of officers for their efforts in 2010, and also announced 2011's first "Officer of the Quarter", and also announced who would be highlighted as Officer Of The Year at next month's events.

Officer Dan Herich, who Police Chief Glenn Eidman joked to an assembled crowd of co-workers, family and friends at the Creve Coeur Government Center on Wednesday, was indeed old enough to shave, was recognized for his action when sent on a call to Spoede Lane on New Year's Day. Eidmann said Herich found a woman on the floor unresponsive and foaming at the mouth. Herich's CPR effort at the scene until other emergency responders arrived is credited with having helped save the woman's life, earning Officer Herich the Chief's Lifesaving Medal, as well as Officer of the Quarter Honors.

Chief Eidman also announced that Officer Richard Wiginton will be feted during next month's Creve Coeur Days festivities as the Officer of the Year. We'll have more on the honor as the events draw closer, but here's the breakdown Eidman offered on Wigington, by the numbers, for 2010:

  • 82 arrests
  • 49 vehicle searches
  • 313 moving and non-moving traffic violations
  • Was able to talk an intoxicated subject who had a gun on the floor of the car out of the vehicle without incident.

The following members of the department were also recognized for their work:

Sergeant Paul Hornung, Officer Al Eichoff, Officer Jeffrey Carter, Officer Caitlin Orr, Officer Michael Breitenstein, Officer Phillip Lane, Officer Tom Exline, Officer Jon McIntosh and Detective Jeffrey Hartman.
