End of An Era For Creve Coeur Police: Captain Don Kayser Retires

As one door closes, another one opens for Captain Don Kayser, who retired Tuesday after 33 years on duty staff at the department. Kayser, 60, was lauded by his colleagues and city staff in a reception Tuesday in City Council chambers.

Kayser rose to become Acting Police Chief in 2004 and is a three-time winner of the department's Officer of the Year Award. . It was a process which saw the rewriting of roughly 130 department policies over the last three years.

Chief Glenn Eidman told the assembled crowd about how he and Kayser served as Best Men in their respective weddings, and how Kayser made his mark over the years, including a stint as a boxer in the annual Guns N' Hoses Backstoppers fundraiser.
