Expect DWI Checkpoints in August, Police Warn
St. Louis County Police and the Missouri State Highway Patrol are warning drivers of sobriety checkpoints planned in August.
The St. Louis County Police Department and Missouri State Highway Patrol both warn drivers they will be be conducting sobriety checkpoints throughout the month of August.
St. Louis County police said specially trained officers will be checking drivers and the inconvenience will be minimal to most motorists.
"The officers participating in the enforcement have had additional training in the recognition of motorists who have had too much to drink or are under the influence of illegal drugs," St. Louis County Police stated in a news release.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) also says drivers can call in and report motorists who are suspected of driving while intoxicated.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol, in cooperation with local law enforcement agencies, will conduct the sobriety checkpoints.
Sobriety checkpoints are a part of the Patrol’s efforts to remove intoxicated drivers from Missouri’s highways, and are conducted at various locations, which have been found to experience a higher than normal number of alcohol-related contacts.

The Patrol encourages motorists and watercraft operators to protect themselves by making sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint and everyone in the vessel is wearing an approved life jacket. Click It 4 Life and Wear It!!!
