Fernway Fire Update: Burn Victim In Critical Condition

Firefighters say there were no working smoke detectors in the home.

Investigators with the Monarch Fire Protection District have not determined what caused a Monday morning , but said late Monday afternoon that one person remained hospitalized in critical condition with serious burns and smoke inhalation.

Authorities said the man was pulled out of the Creve Coeur home by another resident. Two other people live there but were not home at the time of the fire, which was called around 8 a.m. 

According to a press release from Monarch, the fire consumed nearly 60 percent of the ground floor.
