Fernway Fire Victim's Condition Improves

Authorities have not released details of their investigation into the March fire.

The Monarch Fire Protection District posted on Facebook late Thursday that the man who suffered serious burns in a in Creve Coeur is still recovering at , but is improving. The unidentified victim has been upgraded from critical to stable condition.

Monarch Fire Marshal Roger Herin told Patch Friay via email that investigators are "narrowing down" what caused the blaze, but could not release anything yet. 

In a , Herin wrote that the smoke alarms were not working in the home because the batteries had never been changed.
