New Information: Gossip Scribe Berger Charged With Sexual Misconduct

Jerry Berger faces misdemeanor counts reportedly stemming from a February incident.

Updated Friday with information from Creve Coeur Police:

A St. Louis County judge issued a criminal summons earlier this month for longtime columnist Jerry Berger, charged with two misdemeanor counts of sexual misconduct.

The incident in question took place February 22. A Creve Coeur Police press release said a man alerted authorities in August and alleged Berger "groped him in an intimate area while he was waiting in line to check out," of a business in the 11600 block of Olive Boulevard. Police would not identify the business Friday.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch, where Berger worked before starting his own website, reports that Berger had no comment Thursday. The paper spoke with Berger's attorney, Scott Rosenblum, who said the incident was "a misunderstanding and the charges and allegations are completely unfounded."

The case is due back in St. Louis County Circuit Court November 27.
