UPDATE: Guilty Pleas In Schnucks Parking Lot Attack Case

Creve Coeur man receives five years probation, suspended imposition of sentence and must continue to seek medical care.

Josef Achtentuch, a Creve Coeur area man charged last year with felony and misdemeanor assault charges pleaded guilty in St. Louis County Circuit Court Thursday morning. 

Circuit Court Judge Steven Goldman gave Achtentuch a suspended imposition of sentence and placed him on five years probation for the second-degree assault charge, a felony, and two years for the third-degree assault charge, a misdemeanor.

Achtentuch admitted striking an 81-year-old man with his car in the Schnucks parking lot on Olive Boulevard, getting out of his car and throwing a brick at the man. He also drove his car into a shopping cart being pushed by another woman.

None of the injuries were life-threatening.

During the plea hearing Thursday morning, Goldman questioned Achtentuch about his medical history.

His attorney, Frank Hankin, said that Achtentuch is undergoing treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder.

In addition to meeting probation rules, Achtentuch must continue to receive medical treatment, complete 90 days of electronic monitoring and have no contact with the victims.
