Authorities Say Creve Coeur Fire Scene Has History With Police

Monarch Fire Protection District and other crews responded to a basement fire late Monday night near Fernway Drive.

A spokesman for the Monarch Fire Protection District said that the investigation into a basement fire late Monday night in Creve Coeur will now include Creve Coeur Police and St. Louis County's bomb and arson squad.

Crews responded to a home on Gallagher Road near Fernway Drive around 11 p.m. Monday and got the one-alarm fire under control. There were no injuries.

Monarch Public Information Officer Roger Herin said "There were indications," that the outside agencies needed to be brought in," and suggested the residence had a history with police.

Creve Coeur Police would only confirm that they have asked County authorities to assist with the department's investigation. St. Louis County Police said the cause of the fire is undetermined.
